More hail, thundershowers likely over coming days, says Met office

Oman is in for another spell of thundershowers and hail, which, the Met office says, will be due to a “deep upper air trough”.

The weather will be rough for three days starting Monday afternoon.

A Met office advisory says that Rustaq, Samail, Saiq, Yanqul, Jebel Shams and Mahdah could receive thundershowers.

Latest weather analysis from Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre states, “The sultanate will be affected by a deep upper air trough starting Monday afternoon lasting for three days.

Isolated rain and occasional thundershowers associated with fresh wind and hail are expected over the governorates of Musandam, Buraimi and Dhahirah. The governorates of Muscat, North and

South Batinah, Dakhliyah and North and South Sharqiyah will be gradually affected.”

Sea along Musandam will be rough, with wave height reaching 3m. In other parts, wave height is expected to reach 2m.

The Public Authority for Civil Aviation has advised the public to take precaution and follow weather updates.
