‘Unpacked’ event on February 21
Samsung has just announced the dates for the unveiling of the Galaxy S7, its next flagship device that is set to take on the dropping sale numbers of the iPhone.
Samsung has confirmed that it plans to hold the ‘Unpacked’ event on February 21, just before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which runs from February 22-25, 2016.
Although the video depicts a man hooked up on a VR device and does not specify anything about the next smartphone itself, Samsung has always unveiled its flagship Galaxy device at an Unpacked event.

The Galaxy S7 is expected is come out with two versions of the S7 – a 5.1 inch model and a 5.7 inch S7 Edge.
As far as the availability is concerned, expect it to be out in the market by the first or second week of March. According to sources it could start retailing on March 11.
Among the most talked about features of the new Galaxy phones are a pressure sensitive screen and an enhanced battery.
It is also reported that Samsung might reintroduce the Micro SD slot into the device after they were taken away in the S6.
Design-wise, there are no major changes. In terms of hardware the next generation devices might have a homemade Exynos Chip – an 8890 processor.
Samsung it is said is also working with Qualcomm and might introduce the 820 processor, apart from Adreno 530 graphics and LP-DDR4 4GB or 6GB RAM.
In terms of camera, speculations range from a massive 30MP sensor to the adoption of Sony’s 20MP sensor to the implementation of a HTC like dual camera mode with a reduced 12MP camera.
Battery life is expected to get a major boost with an enhanced battery that can last for 17 hours.
Price-wise, expect the 2015 pattern to repeat with a price range of anything between Dh2,600 for a Galaxy S7 to Dh3,200-plus for a top-end Galaxy S7 Edge.
And for Samsung, the March to September month is crucial, especially as it comes ahead of the next iPhone launch.
