New app to help consumers evaluate fuel stations across the sultanate

Muscat – If you are troubled by lack of quality services at any of the fuel stations in the country, a mobile app can help you address your grievances. In a first for the industry, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in cooperation with the National Centre for Statistics and Information, has launched a mobile application Waqudi, which enables customers to evaluate petrol stations.

The application allows users to evaluate stations in terms of general appearance, shopping and food facilities, car wash, tyre repair and air pump facilities, ATMs and toilets. This is in addition to providing end users with necessary tools to search, locate and navigate to petrol stations.

The app helps users to search for fuel stations by type or/and by available nearby facilities. It also makes it possible for the user to plan about filling up during their trip in Oman. Yaqoub al Dhabouni, head of Licensing Department of Petroleum Products, Directorate General of Commerce, MoCI said, “This service enables citizens and residents to evaluate the services provided by fuel stations across the sultanate. It ensures transparency and competitiveness among service providers.”

The application is available for Android smartphones as well on IOS for Apple phones. Users can download Waqudi app and register with an email id and password. The system then helps determine user’s location and provides information on the nearest fuel station or any other station they have used previously to evaluate, Dhabouni added.

The ministry will track users’ feedback and coordinate with fuel marketing companies to inform them of any improvements.
