Oman raises fees for recruitment of expats

The fees for recruitment of expats in top positions has been raised to OMR 2,000 and a new decision was announced transferring the after-service rights of migrant workers to the Social Insurance Fund.

Muscat: The fees for recruitment of expats in top positions has been raised to OMR 2,000 and a new decision was announced transferring the after-service rights of migrant workers to the Social Insurance Fund.

The ministry announced: “There will be changes in the Labour Law and Civil Service Law, including raising the fees for the recruitment of non-labour manpower (administrative and executive positions), formulating policies that include an approximation between the benefits of the public and private sectors Omanisation of some professions, setting up of labour courts, and new ministerial decisions to localise some jobs.”

The Ministry announced the list of new fees for recruitment of expat workers:

1. OMR 2,001 to recruit expats in top positions

2. OMR 1001 to recruit expats in mid positions

3. OMR 601 to employ an expatriate in the specialized and technical professions

4. OMR 361 Forhe profession of fisherman

5. OMR 141 For a permit to bring a domestic worker and those with the same skills from one to three workers

6. OMR 241 For a permit to bring a domestic worker and those with the same skills from four to more.

7. OMR 201 For a farmer and breeder worker from one to three workers, and OMR 301 from the fourth worker to more.

8. OMR 5  fees to change the worker data, and OMR 5 to change the worker’s employer from one to another.
