Oman Air flight experiences burst tyres after landing at Abu Dhabi

Oman Air flight 635 burst two of its tyres upon landing at Abu Dhabi International Airport on Wednesday night, Oman Air tweeted.

The Boeing 737-800 was on its routine flight from Muscat to Abu Dhabi, carrying 150 passengers on board and seven crew members.

The flight took off from Muscat at 8:25 pm local time and landed at 9:07 pm local time when a sudden burst of tyres occurred upon touchdown.

“Thanks to the professionalism of the well trained crew, no further discomfort was experienced by the guests on board,” said a statement from Oman Air officials.

All 150 passengers and crew members were unharmed and disembarked the aircraft smoothly.

“Spare parts have been sent to bring the aircraft back to base as swiftly as possible. A full investigation will take place how this technical incident could occur, despite the thorough maintenance planning and execution,” the Oman Air statement said.

“Oman Air’s over-riding priority is to safeguard the well-being of all its customers and staff, and the airline is proud of its unblemished safety record. Oman Air provides extensive training for its crews on how to effectively manage problems when they arise, and ensure passenger safety. It also works closely with all the airport authorities throughout its network. This incident illustrates the effectiveness of that training and co-operation,” read the statement.
