Over 500 attend Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebration at Indian Embassy – Oman

The day is celebrated every year across the world on January 9 to honour Indians abroad. Engineers, doctors, social workers, bankers and journalists were among the many who were recognised for their diverse works at the event.

H E Indra Mani Pandey, India’s Ambassador to Oman also attended the event. Recorded welcome speeches by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj were also screened at the event.

The attendees gave several suggestions to the ambassador for the welfare of the community. One of the suggestions included promoting Indian patent technologies. “The whole world knows India for its software. My humble suggestion is to display Indian patented technologies to the world,” said a member. H E Pandey commended the perseverance and hard work of Indians.

“Indians around the world are known to showcase high integrity at workplace, perseverance and dedication. “Today we are celebrating the contribution of every Indian working on foreign soils, their devotion for the development of both the foreign country as well as motherland. We will try to improve our systems and I request your continued cooperation in terms of improving the community’s access to India and the community’s access to the embassy,” he said.
