Two children among eight dead

The death toll from the thundershowers and flash floods which hit Oman this week has climbed to eight after two more children were found dead, according to Oman TV.

The body of a boy who had gone missing in the over flowing wadi in Al Khaboura was found and another girl child lost her life when the house wall collapsed on her in Wadi Bani Khalid.

According to latest tweet from National Emergency Management Center (NCCD), eight people have lost their lives in flash floods. However, the details about the eighth person is not yet available.

Among the five dead, two had lost their lives in Mudhaibi and one each in Rustaq, Buraimi, and Nizwa.

According to the Directorate General of Meteorology at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, Wilayat Bahla recorded the maximum amount of rain.

The weather monitoring station in Bahla recorded 77.8 millimeters of rainfall, from 10am on March 9 to 7am on March 10, according to PACA.

Following Bahla was Mudhaibi with 66.4 millimeters recorded, Adam with 59.8 millimeters, Amerat with 48.8 millimeters and Fahud with 46.2 millimeters of rain.
