UAE’s Seawings launches air taxi service to Oman

Seawings, the UAE-based seaplane operator, has launched an air taxi service providing private charter flights between central business and leisure destinations in UAE to airports in Oman and Qatar.

With their ability to land on water, seaplanes can offer direct flights to central city locations, such as Abu Dhabi Corniche or Dubai Creek. Seawings already had a network of destinations for its scheduled flights and the air taxi is a natural extension providing private charters that offer passengers all the flexible benefits of their own seaplane, stated the company.

“You don’t need to be at an international airport for a flight to Muscat. Take off from the waters of Dubai, the marina of Abu Dhabi, or dozens of other locations across the UAE. There’s no need to check in two hours before departure, no queues at security, and no waiting around. Embark on the seaplane as it lulls in a harbour and travel by air to Muscat International Airport in under 90 minutes,” said the company. Much like chartering a traditional taxi, all air taxi routes are fully customised.

Twenty six landing locations can be used, including convenient city locations and all the region’s airports. “Take off at any time during daylight hours and enhance the convenience with beautiful views from the seaplane’s large viewing windows. Every seaplane charter has capacity for nine passengers and prearranged land transfers complete the door-to-door service,” the company said.

Landing at a city’s central business district drastically reduces or removes the need for additional land transfers. Special ground handling removes any of the delays associated with traditional aerial travel, said Stuart Wheeler, CEO, Seawings.

“The vision behind Air Taxi is to make private travel faster and more convenient for both business and leisure travellers. By touching down in the heart of a city, the service saves passengers considerable time versus business class travel from major airports.” Wheeler added, “We’ve pioneered a network of landing locations across the Middle East region. Our fleet of seaplanes can now provide a dedicated aerial taxi service that connects the whole Arabian Peninsula.”

Some of other destinations that can be used for air taxi include Dubai International Airport, Dubai World Central, Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa and Dubai Cruise Terminal, while in Abu Dhabi the options are Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Bateen, Al Ruwais and Al Ain International Airport. In Ras al Khaimah, Hilton Beach Hotel, RAK International Airport, Al Hamra and City Corniche, while in Fujairah one can opt for Al Aqah Beach, Fujairah International Airport, and Fujairah International Marine Club.
