392 workers in Oman held for labour law violations

The Governorate of Muscat saw the largest number of workers violating the law at 186, followed by the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah with 42 workers.

Three hundred and ninety-two workers, including 333 commercial workers, 28 farm workers and 31 housemaids and their equivalents were arrested by the joint inspection team of the Ministry of Manpower for violating the Labour Law between February 21 and 27.

The team arrested 350 workers, including 160 absconding workers, 186 astray workers and four workers for other violations.

Competent authorities at the Ministry of Manpower have initiated legal procedures against them. On the other hand, the Manpower Ministry’s data showed that 263 expatriates were deported for violating provisions of the Labour Law and ministerial decisions executing the law.
