Bug eggs in coco pops?

The officials at the health department of the Muscat Municipality has confirmed that a circular has been issued with regards to Kellogg’s Coco Pops.

The circular stated, “Bugs and bug eggs (with capability to reproduce) have been found in certain samples of the Kellogg’s Coco Pops. The affected batches (weighing 375gm) were said to be produced in Spain on July 7, 2015 with an expiry date of July 7, 2016.”
Khimji Ramdas, the official distributor for Kellog’s products in Oman said that they are awaiting an official statement from the company.
Senior official of a leading supermarket told the Observer that they are yet to get any directive or circular on the issue till date.
“We have been getting inquiries on this and other products too, but need to wait and follow the directive from the appropriate authorities.”
He said that lots of measures of messages have been circulated through the social media and it is advisable for the general consumers to go by the official statement of the concerned authorities.
“The supermarkets will not willingly put any products on the shelves that will harm their reputation and the health of the consumers,” he said.
Coco Pops or Choco Pops has one of the popular breakfast cereal produced by Kellogg’s, consumed by children in markets that it has been distributed.
