Massive fire at Maharashtra -Mumbai night event

A massive fire engulfed the stage at the Maharashtra night event, held on the sidelines of the Make in India investment summit.

A troupe of dancers were performing on the stage when a fire was detected below the stage and the police ran to the stage halting the performance. Chaos reigned as people made a dash for the exits.

A few minutes before Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao were on the stage.

The fire brigade was rushed in immediately and operations to douse the fire are currently underway.

The Bombay High Court had denied permission for this event, but the Supreme Court later gave its nod.

A-list Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Hema Malini, Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor were present at the event, which has been abruptly terminated.

The area has now been barricaded. An explosion was also heard at the venue.
