Next Two Days Muscat region will experience rain

Some parts of the capital region like Amerat and Bausher will experience rain in the next two days, said the Met office.

Thanks to the cloudy skies, the city has been witnessing a drop in the temperature by at least 5°C since the last few days.

A senior official from the meteorological department said, “In the next few days a mild storm accompanied with rain will hit the sultanate.

“The storm and showers are a result of monsoon in India and due to a low pressure system formed over the Indian Ocean.”

The official added, “This is normal for this time of the year. The clouds will be scattered.

“This small fluctuation in tropical weather will result in showers and also mild storms in some other parts of the country like Buraimi and North and South Sharqiyah. The phenomenon can also be felt in parts of the neighbouring UAE and Yemen.”

The official said the formation of clouds is a result of south-west monsoon that has hit India.

A few days back the mercury was hovering over 40°C in the capital. Some places like Suwaiq in North Batinah even experienced 50°C in the second week of June. However, the forecast for Muscat for the next few days says the temperature will be between 32°C and 34°C.

The pleasant weather is encouraging people to travel.

Salim Khan, an Indian expatriate from Al Khuwayr said, “The weather is lovely.

“There is also a three-day holiday coming up. It will be a pleasant drive from Muscat to Salalah.”
