Samsung unveils Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in sultanate

Samsung Electronics on Tuesday launched Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones at Crowne Plaza Muscat.

Tarek Sabbagh, head of IT and mobile division at Samsung Gulf Electronics said, “The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are very bold representations of our commitment to millions of people around the world who love our products and inspire our work.

“Class-leading camera technology, a long-lasting battery, cutting-edge processors and optimisation for gaming are just some features making these the most innovative smartphones.” Sabbagh added,“Omani consumer is a person who likes experiencing new technology. We are proud to say that our market share has increased to 47 per cent from 41 per cent. “This shows that the Omani consumer is appreciative of our products and we are certain the S7 and S7 edge will be a great experience too. The declining oil prices have not affected our growth as mobile is not a luxury item anymore and is more of a necessity.”

The 5.1” Galaxy S7 and 5.5” Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. From work to play, the device’s new Always-On Display, gives users a simplified, zero touch experience where they don’t need to worry about missing a call or important notification, the company said. Both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have increased utility with IP68 water and dust resistance. Edge UX, the advanced edge experience available on Galaxy S7 edge, provides convenience and increased efficiency by creating easy shortcuts for users.

The powerful processor and bigger battery capacity ensure longer playing time, and the internal cooling system keeps the device from overheating. An add-on is the Game Launcher that allows users to manage battery consumption and minimise notifications. Additionally, users can record their gaming experience or share their screen to play with others.

Speaking about the Entertainer app, Sabbagh said, “The partnership with the Entertainer app maximizes the user experience for consumers in the Gulf region as it offers more than 1,000 ‘buy 1 get 1 free’ offers.

“The app provides unparalleled access to several global hotspots including restaurants, cafés, premium spas, leisure attractions, golf courses, luxury hotels and much more. The combined value of the benefits (inclusive of international locations) is estimated to be over RO40,800 of savings.” The phones will be available at all major retailers in Oman from March 14. The recommended retail price for Galaxy S7 is RO270, and Galaxy S7 edge is RO300.
