Muscat to witness heavy rain

Oman meteorology department has predicted heavy rain over Muscat governorate.

Heavy rain has been predicted in the Muscat governorate, even as the civil defense has reported that overflowing wadis have cut off roads in Sohar and other areas.

“Heavy rain is expected in the coming next minutes in Muscat,” Oman meteorology department tweeted on its official Twitter handle at around 5:15pm.

In an earlier tweet, it said radar had detected moderate to heavy rain over Al Dahirah and North Al Batinah, which may extend to Al Dakhiliya and South Batinah in the next few hours.

According to National Committee of Civil Defense (NCCD) tweets, the flooded wadis have cut off roads linking Sohar to Yanqul and Sohar to Wadi Hibi.

“Traffic on Az’ Zaroob Hafeet road in Al Buraimi has stopped due to flooded wadis,” NCCD tweeted.
