Expatriates will now have to pay OMR20 for a no-conviction certificate and OMR10 for verifying fingerprints, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has stated.
The other new fees include OMR10 for certificates of good conduct for Omani citizens, OMR10 for yearly issuing of authorization cards for company representatives for documentation purposes and OMR20 for the annual registration and renewal by contractors, advisory offices in exports, logistics, services, advisory studies and technical work.
This was stated in a decision issued on Sunday by the ROP on the authority of Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs.
Another decision issued on Sunday imposes fines on illegally carrying firearms, ranging from OMR40 to 100 depending on the type of firearm.
Failing to renew licences for a firearm will cost OMR40 for individuals and OMR150 for shooting clubs.
Handing over a weapon to another person will invite a penalty of OMR50 and anyone who carries a silenced weapon risks a fine of OMR100.
The fine for being in the possession of ammunition of not more than 50 bullets without licence will be OMR60. In addition, the fine for failing to renew the licence for selling weapons and ammunition will be OMR200.
The ROP has also introduced fines for using fireworks. A fine of OMR100 will be imposed on anyone who uses fireworks, even in a sparsely populated area or in a public place.
