PACP recalls batches of three brands of black pepper powder

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has recalled certain batches of black pepper powder of Gazal, Shahi and Al Ameer brands.

Dr Said bin Khamis bin Juma al Kaabi, chairman of PACP issued three decisions on June 12 to recall black pepper powder of these three brands.
The first decision (No 234/2016) states withdrawal of Gazal black pepper powder produced on 1/12/2015 and expiring on 30/11/2017. The second decision (234/2016) states withdrawal of Al Ameer brand black pepper powder produced on 25/11/2015 and expiring on 24/11/2017. The third decision (No 236/2016) states withdrawal of Shahi black pepper powder produced on 12/5/2015 with expiry on 12/2017.

PACP decisions stated that these three firms  should withdraw the said batches keeping public health in mind. Violators also have to pay   RO300 as an administrative fine and double the amount if the violation is repeated.

“If the violation continues, RO50 will have to be paid as administrative fine per day with total fines not exceeding RO2,000 as per rules in the Consumer Protection Law,” the release added.
